History
MyBuilder started life back in 2004 when roofer and stonemason Ryan Notz found himself consistently frustrated with the way customers were unable to find reliable local builders to them. Too often word of mouth prioritised substandard contractors over others, with customers regularly shocked at the high prices and low quality of trade they were receiving. Realising the need for a better system, Ryan set up an office in his garage and set to work on MyBuilder – an online platform for people to post their job and have builders and tradespeople contact them in a transparent and open way to offer their services and skills.
It took two years for Ryan to finalise the platform as he liked it, but by 2006, he was ready to launch. Immediately providing customers with a choice of specialists and builders with a steady stream of work, MyBuilder grew and developed through good reputation with both the public and homeowners, as well as with those working in a trade. In 2007 it sought funding and raised over $400,000, and by 2017 - at which point it was considered the UK’s leading platform for connecting homeowners and tradespeople - it was sold to digital marketplace giant HomeAdvisor.
MyBuilder has connected thousands of homeowners with the right builder and/or specialist for their job and kept many tradespeople in work even through periods where they would otherwise have struggled. The company continues to work toward promoting quality workmanship and great customer service.
